When full-room replacement may not be necessary
If the surrounding ceiling is stable, dry and capable of supporting a durable connection, a defined section can sometimes be removed and rebuilt. This avoids replacing sound areas while still creating a proper repair boundary.
Full-room replacement becomes more likely when sagging, water damage, support loss or deterioration extends across multiple connected areas, or when a local finish cannot be integrated reliably.
